EuroGrid was established by the Treaty of Gravelines in early 2048 as the energy agency of Europe. The agency builds upon the pre - existing Trans - European Networks for Energy (TEN-E) as well as Euratom. The aims of the project are as follows:
To establish a single integrated electrical grid for Europe, by combining the four existing grids
To support the 'Just Transition' through job creation and decarbonisation
To develop nuclear and fusion power in Europe
To support reliable electrical infrastructure across Europe
In order to achieve its goals, EuroGrid primarily works with Member States on specific projects.
Links between Ireland and continental Europe allow for access to the shared grid to the island nation. This was done through the Celtic Interconnector. This allows for increased reliability of the once isolated grid.
This programme has founded numerous energy link projects in late 2048 to connect isolated island grids in the Greek Archipelago to the main electricity grid.
