The Eurozone is the group of countries that use the Euro as their sole currency. Currently, 30 Member States are part of the Eurozone, while 6 other European states are authorised to use the Euro by special agreement with the ECB.
Of the remaining 8 member states, 5 are in the process of fulfilling the Maastricht criteria for joining, and are mandated to do so, while two have recieved an opt-out from joining. Additionally, North Macedonia does not and has never fulfilled the criteria, however the country unilaterally adopted the Euro following its accession to the EU.
